2555 Villa Benedetta and 2556 Toast and Top Sheets

sold #2556 Toast and Top Sheets still life, acrylic, 6" x 6"
Tuesday, May 24th, #2556 Toast and Top Sheets - We headed down to the marketplace in Greve after lunch to paint, draw in our travel sketchbooks and to partake in a photo safari in which we took photos that we could paint from later from our ipads or iphones (I have a few tricks I shared for that). The villa was about a mile outside of the town square, up a steep, dirt hill that wound through vineyards - (the hill justified the extra scoop of gelato). I hitched a ride to town that day, so I was lucky to join my car cohorts on an impromptu trip to a cashmere farm about 45 minutes away. The farm is owned by a former painter from Long Island. She has about 300 goats and 8 dogs. I discovered I don't really want cashmere, just a baby cashmere goat, specifically one named Jellybean.

Monday, May 23rd, #2555 Villa Benedetta - We were slated to paint at the outdoor marketplace in the village of Greve, but we woke up to dark skies which quickly turned into torrential downpours, lightening and wind that blew open the windows and drove the rain inside - thank goodness we opted to paint interiors instead. We were not short on inspiration, every corner of the villa had something to paint, like large windows and winding staircases. The rain ended just as we finished up our morning painting session, so we all headed downtown for lunch at Mangiando Mangiando. We ended the afternoon with a short lesson on painting values.
