Ring It In! #585

The orange cloth crept it's way back in - maybe it's more gold colored - it's not so much the color that's making me paint it, it's the reflective quality of it - it's a strange material.

Happy New Year!

Apple Boat #584

I recreated my setup from yesterday and added in an orange cloth - I painted it FOUR times, before retreating to a 4x4" panel. (In my defense, I had eaten one of the apples, so the setup was kind of unbalanced and awkward.)

Other News: I went snowshoeing again, and of course I walked, Brie, the dog, curator, office assistant and snow eater first.

Out the Window #582

I painted this in the spring too - it's the view out studio my window. I seem to have run out of fruit, vegetables and flowers to paint - a trip to the market is in order, but since I don't remember painting snow before, I figured I'd try it.

Warm & Dry #581

SOLD
I went on location again today (the dining room). No electricity this a.m. so, I waited until it wasn't dark and used the available light. The door to the left of the couch is the room I usually paint in, but this morning it also happened to be the room the wind was blowing at, too cold without heat!

To pass the time today, I tried out my snowshoes! Okay, there was barely enough snow in the woods to justify the snowshoes, but it was fun.

Other News: Brie, the dog, has eaten a lot of snow today.

Snow Day #580

Taking it easy - it's a BLIZZARD!
I'm bundling up and heading out to play with Brie, the snow buffalo.

Anticipation #577

Brie is beside herself. She's been trying all day to guess what the devil is in the bright pink stocking delivered by our young neighbor.

Upon delivery I was instructed it was;
a. for Brie, the dog.
b. it's not to be opened until Christmas.

So, we wait.

Okay, I've snuck her a hint or two - but she still isn't aware of the entire contents. UNLIKE the Unleashed bag she yanked her new bone out of earlier today.

Eh, life is short, chew bones while you can - enjoy, fluffy little friend and Merry early Christmas.

Oh! Here's a painting!

Visions of. . . #576

It just occurred to me, I have no idea what a sugar plum is, let alone looks like, so these regular plain old plums are it for me.

Maybe tomorrow I'll paint my own version of figgy pudding (whatever that is) - consider yourself forewarned.

Personal Challenge #575

It's been called to my attention (by me) that I have not been doing many objects in my setups lately - so, I thought I would challenge myself today by setting up a still life with five objects (five happinesses come to mind) and also without anything yellow or green.

Okay, so I got the five objects, didn't use yellow (although I mixed a lot of yellow in my gray to make me feel sunny) and well, totally failed on the green bit, but you know what they say about two out of three.

Happy as I am painting pirouetting sugar bowls I wanted to fill up the space in a different way.

Oh and I used my new light, can you tell?

Bottled Up #574

The sugar bowl is kind of like a comfort prop for me. When I've painted something that doesn't go well, I head straight for the sugar bowl.

It's always perky and upbeat. And most days seems to be saying, "YOOHOO, paint ME!"

Power Walk #569

I've been on the fly lately - this seemed appropriate. And I could (should) delete that silly statement, save my dignity, but I won't.

Here's a mini 4x4" -

Farmer's Porch #568

I also tried to paint people today. Look what won out for blog posting.
Other News: I'm still listening to Christmas Music - I'm incurable.

Window Seat #565

I painted today at Page's at one of her all day workshops. The best thing about painting with other people is you get critiqued which results in hearing ideas about your work you wouldn't normally think of - like in this painting, the suggestion was to add some brighter yellow around the window - so I did when I got home and I'm glad!

Tea #564

I keep using the window for a backdrop - yesterday, it was dark when I painted, today it was not.

Light still in the box. . . dog has been walked though, no paper bags have needlessly suffered recently, but a roll of paper towels never knew what hit it.

Who's There? #563

SOLD
I've been attacked by my last clip on light. A new light on a tripod arrived today.

Truth be told, it's still in the box, so the potential for one last attack exists, I'm daring that way.

Other News: Brie, the dog, office assistant, etc., seems to be on strike.

It's been cold and that ocean breeze we love so much in the summer, well, it's just not the same, it has teeth this time of year, so no walks lately. But today, on what is seemingly the coldest of all, we just went for it. It was time. Brie had it out with a paper bag yesterday for entertainment, it was not pretty and furthermore the paper bag was not amused.

Dinner Painting #562

It was an exceptionally busy day, so I painted this at the dining room table right after dinner! I didn't run out of time to paint today, but Brie is hoping I run out of time to brush her.

Other News: There's some new frames down at White Magdelena for the little 4x4" paintings - they are very thick, 3" on each side with a beveled interior and they are an antique ivory -

My Little Tomato #561

This is a demo I did today in front of a fun, warm, outgoing group of painters.

And now I'm off to make something tomato based for dinner.

Summer House #555

One of the many things I love about summer houses, is the eclectic furniture and things which end up there. Tells a story somehow, or makes it easy to make one up.

In Other News: Over at the GJWP Challenge we've been working on the theme "Spirit" this month. Santa Paws is featured there now, but I wanted to add, Brie, the dog, and I were visited by another kind of "Spirit" just as the challenge was wrapping up.

The spirit we were visited by was not that of Christmas past, present or future, but an ill-natured, heartless kind of spirit that kills two coffee makers in one day - all this at 4:55 a.m. - or maybe I'm just the only person on the planet who cannot remember how to work one of those single serving coffee thing-ies.

I thought briefly about calling the emergency line for the electrician, it seemed too strange to be true, I wanted a second opinion.
